Major Doug Brantley (right), of Jackson, was recently awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from Rabea Al-Adsani, Director General for the Kuwaiti National Committee for Missing and POW (Prisoner of War) Affairs.
MAJ Brantley is serving in Iraq with the 194th Engineer Brigade (TA), Tennessee Army National Guard, Jackson.
The recognition was a result of MAJ Brantley's efforts in coordinating assets with Coalition Forces, the 891st Engineer Battalion, Kansas Army National Guard and the 133rd Engineer Company, Wyoming Army National Guard to perform dig missions in the search for missing remains of Kuwaiti citizens. After the Desert Storm war, there were 634 missing Kuwaiti citizens. Through efforts of these digs, the remains of approximately 240 have been found and identified.
The award states: "In grateful appreciation for your dedication and sincere support of our humanitarian issue. Your professionalism and expertise made a great impact on our mission in Iraq".
Presenting the award on behalf of the Director General is Brigadier General Jimmy Welch, Commander of the 194th Engineer Brigade.
